Staying at home due to the Covid-19 outbreak gives us a lot of opportunities to be with our children and do a lot of beneficial activities with them. Even though they are bound at home, our children are always active and moving about playing non-stop from dawn to dusk. Children do need instant energy while they are performing. Have you ever thought of an easy way to prepare homemade snacks for the children that can stay longer on the shelf? They can take and have them whenever they want, even on the next day. One of the activities that I do is baking the cornflakes biscuits with kids.
Here, I will share with you four reasons why I recommend baking cornflakes biscuits with them in our home during this staying at home period.
1. Cornflakes biscuits are yummy & irresistible.
They are children’s favorite for generations. As far as I remember, we have never resisted cornflakes biscuits since we were young. They are crunchy and delicious.
2. Making the dough is suitable for the little hands’ fine motor skills and sensations.
Children should be included during the making of the cornflakes biscuits. They should be allowed to measure the required ingredients, break the egg, to make the dough, and to spread the mixture balls on the cornflakes. These will help them with mathematical ability, soft and rough sensations, and hand manipulative skills.
3. Teaching the concept of perseverance, focus, and patience.
Children’s concentration span does not last long. According to child development experts that a child’s concentration span lasts for only 2 to 5 minutes each year. For a 5-year-old, usually, they can solely concentrate on a task within 10 to 25 minutes only. Baking cornflakes biscuits has only a few easy steps that do not require lengthy preparation time that suits children 5 years to primary school age. Therefore with these simple steps, it is suitable to teach our children to remain focus on their tasks with patience and perseverance to complete it with a guide from us.
4. Cornflakes biscuits only require simple ingredients.
Many types of biscuits require a lot of ingredients that need to be purchased. Most of the time, the children will not proceed with them, especially during this Covid-19 staying at home period because to go and buy the ingredients is not easy. However, this is different from corn flakes biscuits. All the ingredients required are usually available at home most of the time.
These are the ingredients to make about 50 cornflakes biscuits.
